FUGRO Australia - Vacation Program

Fugro is a Dutch multinational company specialising in geotechnical, survey and geological services, and aerospace services.
Fugro Australia runs a 12 week summer vacation program for graduates looking to get hands on experience, and see what things are like in the industry.
Task
We were tasked with producing this short documentary that offers a sneak peak into the experiences within the Vacation Program.
Approach
For this project, we needed to interview some of the current Vacation Program students to get a good understanding of what happens during this 12 week period. Each of these people needed to hail from different backgrounds/fields of study to get a well rounded perspective on the program’s offerings.
We were granted access to their main facility in Perth CBD where they operate offshore ROV’s, monitor incoming data, and develop state of the art technologies. Not only this, but their production facility out in Osborne Park gave us a glimpse of how these big ideas reach physical production – it was an awesome experience!
Finally to top it all off, the students put their collective knowledge to the test in the rocket building competition. This was a more laid back day for the students, and we had a great time filming the fruits of their labour.
Result
We’re incredibly pleased with how this project turned out. These students run at 150% for 12 weeks straight during this Vacation Program, but the sense of accomplishment they receive at the end of it is well worth it. Fugro do a fantastic job at preparing graduates for what it’s like when working in the industry.
